I’ve Been Grounded!

Dear loyal followers (both of you!),

The average life-span of a blog is actually a few weeks so the fact that I kept this one going for almost two years means…well, it means nothing…I just had to start somehow. Anyhoo…my jet-setting days are coming to a close now that I’ve taken a job that will keep me closer to home. With that being said, my time at the airport is going to be limited and the chance to stalk people throughout the terminal is going with it.

But we had some good times…I judged of a lot of people; reviewed some airports and even (hopefully) gave some useful advice. So as I leave you, please remember the following things when you hit the skies:

  1. Airplanes are disgusting…don’t touch anything. Either come with every means of sanitation that you can find or wear one of those nuclear protective suits. And for the love of God, don’t eat off the tray table without cleaning it first. Gross…
  2. Air travel is not perfect. Way too many times do I hear or read about someone’s experience only to end with “I’m never flying such and such airline again.” Actually, you probably will if it’s the cheapest option so when there is a delay (and there will be)…just grin and bear it. Better to have a mechanical delay than end up a big pile of ash in the middle of a beet field.
  3. There are other people on the plane. I know it’s a shock for some, but the universe doesn’t revolve around one individual. Therefore, be respectful to the other passengers, crew and anyone else involved with the process. It makes the experience that much better.
  4. Now that you read number 3, remember that you paid to be there as well so don’t be a pushover. If something is messed up, then tell the airline. If you don’t want to switch seats with the pushy couple who want to sit together, then don’t (it’s an hour flight, get over it love-birds). Fly your flight, not someone else’s.
  5. Last but not least…get out there and see the damn world. It’s really not that big and there are planes that will take you virtually anywhere. Don’t get stuck in your own little bubble…there is a lot great things to see, people to meet and stuff to do. Like our good friends at Nike said, “Just do it!”

Thank you again everyone…this has been fun! I’ll see you in the air…someday.

Safe travels,

Dr. People Watcher
